RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Our Charter Pricing Methodology

We never invent prices or promise binding quotes. Here is exactly where our figures come from and how our all-in estimates are tabulated.

1. Data Source: 110 Miami Charter Yachts (Checked Nov 2026)

Our baseline rate tiers are derived from a review of 110 active Miami charter yachts cataloged in our primary database, checked on November 5, 2026. Listings are pulled from live YATR data and checked on the stated date. This database covers vessels ranging from 34-foot day cruisers to 222-foot event vessels across the main South Florida marinas: Miami Beach Marina, Bayshore Landing, Haulover Marina, and Venetian Yacht Club.

Because marketplace listings frequently quote varying durations (such as 4-hour half-day vs. 8-hour full-day packages), we normalize comparisons strictly by duration. We never average prices across different trip lengths.

Prices are the yachts' listed prices, checked Nov 2026. Most listings (100 of 110) price per 4 hours; the rest price per 6, 8 or 24 hours, and each yacht card on this site shows its own duration next to its price.

2. Why We Publish Ranges, Not Single Exact Figures

Any website claiming an exact, guaranteed price for a private yacht without inspecting the captain's live calendar is misleading you. In Miami chartering, identical 50-foot motor yachts can carry very different prices depending on:

  • Vessel age and builder tier: A 2024 Azimut commands a higher rate than a 2012 model of identical length.
  • Day of the week: Weekday charters (Monday–Thursday) often cost less than peak Saturday afternoons, when demand is highest.
  • Seasonal surges: Major Miami events (Art Basel, Miami Boat Show, Ultra Music Festival, New Year’s Eve) cause dynamic rate increases across all fleets.

Publishing honest, realistic ranges ensures that you enter your booking negotiation with accurate expectations.

3. The Components of an Honest All-In Total

Every all-in estimate on RentMiami.yachts is built from three components, each one traceable to the listing data or to a stated dockside range:

Base Vessel Charter: The boat's own listed price for the stated duration, taken from the 110-yacht database above. No averaging, no modelled rates.
Licensed USCG Captain: Benchmarked at the dockside range of $50 to $125 per hour, the range Miami captains actually charge for this work.
Customary Crew Gratuity (15%–20%): Standard maritime tipping custom, calculated on the base rate and paid directly to the captain at the dock.
What we do not add: No fuel line, because idle-speed cruising in Biscayne Bay is normally inside the listing price (long, fast ocean runs are the exception, and the operator quotes those). No tax line either: if a booking fee or tax applies to your charter, it appears on the checkout screen before you pay. An estimate that invents either figure would be a worse guide than leaving both out.
